A unique boat collection in the centre of Stockholm

Boat Hall 2 at Galärvarvet has a unique collection of boats – one of Europe’s biggest and most comprehensive.

The boats date from the 15th to the 20th centuries, and include everything from steam launches and working boats to leisure craft of many kinds.

In 2011 Boat Hall 2 reopened to a new design, with just over 40 boats and engines, along with Vasaorden, Galten and Delfinen – the King’s boats. The Museum Association of Swedish Leisure Boats, MSF, is collaborating with the Maritime Museum and the National Maritime Museums on Boat Hall 2, as they have been doing since 2003. The idea is eventually to create a boat exhibition specialising in leisure boats.

Some of the very interesting leisure craft previously on show in Boat Hall 2 are now being put into storage at another location, where they will eventually be shown to the public again.
