Gröne Jägaren (the Green Hunter) was designed to be lit on fire and sailed towards the opposing fleet, while filled with gunpowder. Her crew would get her close to the enemy, set her course and then abandon ship.
Gallery fire and an explosion
One evening in 1676, before dinner was cooked, the galley fires on board were lit. The fire somehow got out of control and the gunpowder on board was ignited. The crew of 18 on board were all killed in the explosion. Some parts of the ship were salvaged by The Maritime Museum and the ship's windlass can still be seen in the museum today.
